Senior Capstone

It all began with an idea. An idea for change. For my senior capstone, I chose to delve into a topic of importance to me: discrimination within the advertising industry. With advertising contributing to the highest standard of living, the power advertisers and marketers hold is vital to the well-being of society. Through diligent research, I aimed to analyze the tactics and trends of four brands, Nivea, Popchips, Facebook and H&M, in order to cognize the effects of discriminatory advertising on the brand and public. I then moved on to three brands, Nike, Dove and Pantene, who have made continuous efforts in the realm of inclusion – paving the way for advertisers and brands alike. Throughout the semester, I was able to compare and contrast the ways in which advertisers gain publicity and revenue to reinforce diversity allowing me to create a multi-faceted solution to discrimination within advertising.
